The Waukegan Public Library Children’s Department presents its first writing contest! They are very excited to read your story and see just how you use your creativity. Use your imagination to create your own fictional story. Your story can be about anything.
In order to qualify, please submit a short story before January 15th - new deadline! - that contains the following: For 3-5th graders minimum 1000 words; max 1500; For 6-8th graders minimum 1500 words; max 2000; Must include a creative title, full name, page numbers, and be double spaced; Illustrations are not required but will be accepted. The winning submission will be awarded a $25 Amazon gift card. This writing contest is only open to Waukegan residents.

Free food distribution for homes with children 18 and younger! Every Friday beginning at 1pm, Waukegan to College's partner, QuestFood, will provide a bag of breakfast and lunch items for each child in the home 18 years and younger. Each bag will have enough food for seven days. All are welcome.
