    Program: Six women who embody the three aspects of our theme, “Women Rising,” will highlight their experiences and views on each. Honorees: Recognizing outstanding women chosen by participating LCWC organizations who have inspired and motivated women and girls to attain education, enlightenment, and/or empowerment. The honorees will be introduced and their brief biographies presented. Ghostlight Readers: Students from Round Lake High School will perform an original arrangement of songs of empowerment to celebrate the occasion. Scholarships: All fundraising of the LCWC goes toward scholarships at College of Lake County for women who are returning to school to enable them to pursue their chosen careers. The Women's History Month celebration is important to the mission of the Lake County Women's Coalition as 100% of the proceeds continue to fund our scholarships for women, 30+, at College of Lake County.

  18. Gardening Series: Successful Vegetable Gardening (virtual)

    The University of Illinois Extension, Lake County (UIE) and SWALCO (Solid Waste Agency of Lake County) present the 2021 Garden Learning Series. Programs will be held on the second Wednesday of the month, 6pm – 7:30pm. The first in the series will be held on March 10 (virtually) and will feature tips on growing healthy and productive vegetables. These workshops are offered through a collaboration between SWALCO and UIE as part of a grant from USDA, focusing on local efforts to promote composting and food waste diversion. The grant also aims to increase the generation and use of compost in commercial, residential, agriculture, and community gardens sectors. Community Gardens wanting to learn more or get involved, can reach out. Some programs will be offered virtually or others in-person. Beathard comes from a gifted family – his brother is an NFL quarterback and his grandfather is a former NFL GM with four Super Bowl rings.
