1. What are the application age limits and do they apply to certified police officers and veterans?

You must be at least 20 years old and less than 35 years of age at the time of the written exam.  You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

The age limit does not apply to any applicant over the age of 34 with prior full-time work experience as a peace officer. Currently there is not an exemption for veterans.

4. Do I need a P.O.W.E.R. test card prior to picking up an application?

No. However, a P.O.W.E.R. test card must have been obtained from one of the three approved sources and not be older than one year from the date of the written exam.

5. Where can I obtain a P.O.W.E.R. test card?

There are three locations approved by the Waukegan Police Department where you can test to obtain a P.O.W.E.R. test card.
