Waukegan Mayor Ann B. Taylor

From the Desk of

Mayor Ann B. Taylor

It is officially Fall here in Waukegan, and there is much beauty in watching our summer leaves of green changing color.

If you are doing Fall cleaning, remember that we have Clean Sweep Dumpster Drops and Recycling Collections every Saturday in October from 8am - 12pm Dumpsters will be in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 7th Ward. All Waukegan residents may bring their oversized items and electronic recyclables to any Dumpster Drop. Learn more about our Clean Sweep Dumpsters below.

Halloween is just around the corner, and seeing our residents decorating for the season has been a pleasure. Please see below for trick-or-treat hours. Please remember that even though school is in session, many of our children spend time outdoors playing. Waukegan Police are increasing their speeding patrols to ensure resident safety, so please be a good neighbor and slow down, especially near our schools and residential neighborhoods.

Lastly, December 1st, the City of Waukegan will change our garbage, recycling, and yard waste vendor to LRS. Residents will receive a 95-gallon garbage receptacle and a 65-gallon recycling receptacle. If you want a larger recycling receptacle, please go to the Enrollment Portal or call LRS directly at (844) 633-3577. You need to notify LRS by October 18th to make this upgrade.

Finally, if you are getting this newsletter forwarded to you and want to sign up for your own email address, you can click this link to sign up for our monthly e-news.

As always, please feel free to contact the City if you have any questions or need assistance from our staff. The phone number for City Hall is (847) 599-2500.

From all our staff at Waukegan City Hall, we wish you and yours a festive and safe Fall season.

Yours in service,
Ann Taylor, Mayor

New Waste Collection Contractor

The City of Waukegan recently chose LRS as its new waste, recycling, and landscape waste hauler beginning December 1, 2023. LRS sent a couple of direct mailers to the Waukegan households eligible for their services that announced this change along with a brochure outlining their collection strategy. If you have not done so already, we encourage you  to visit their dedicated webpage and cart enrollment portal at LRSrecycles.com/Waukegan to make your size selection of carts for the household waste and recycling. Waukegan homes will automatically be registered to receive a 95-gallon cart for garbage and 65-gallon cart for recyclables if no selection is made. Deadline for cart selections is 6pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. For more information, please call 844-633-3577 or send an email to Service@lrsrecycles.com.
