August continues great family-friendly activities at some of our favorite Waukegan destinations and attractions.
The Waukegan Band closes out their 2023 Summer Concert Season with free concerts on Tuesday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 8 at 7:30pm in the Stiner Pavilion at the Waukegan Municipal Beach. Shop for fresh produce and craft-made foods at the Waukegan Harbor's Famer's Market on Wednesdays from 3pm to 7pm that runs through September 27. LIVE shows return to the Genesee Theatre starting on August 3 with Rock Legends, Steve Miller Band, Country Star, Justin Moore, on August 11, America on August 12, a night of nostalgia with the Happy Together Tour 2023 that includes the Turtles, and closing out the month with comedian Tim Allen for two shows on August 19.
The Waukegan Public Library's free Summer Concerts continue on Fridays at Noon.
The annual Waukegan Night Out and Touch a Truck will take place on Friday, August 4 at the Waukegan Municipal Beach, brought to you by the Waukegan Park District and the Waukegan Police Department and concludes with the season's final Movies in the Park pop up with Sing 2 at Stiner Pavilion.
FREE Yoga in the Stiner Pavilion at the Waukegan Municipal Beach continues on Saturday mornings at 8am.
The deadline for the Waukegan Public Library's Ray Bradbury's Summer Writing Contest is Tuesday, August 15. Email your entries to samberinger@waukeganpl.info before August 15th for a chance to win a $20 Amazon Gift Card and your work read aloud on the library's Facebook.
The Waukegan History Museum invites you to the Then and Now Guided Walking Tour on Saturday, August 12, from 10am to 11am. Participants are encouraged to register in advance by clicking here.
Celebrate Waukegan's own Ray Bradbury at the annual Dandelion Wine Arts and Music Festival on Saturday, August 19 at Bowen Park from 11am - 4:51pm.
Mark your calendar for the next Clean Sweep Disposal and Dumpster Drop on Saturday, August 26 from 8am to 12pm that will be hosted by Waukegan Public Works and 5th Ward Alderperson, Edie Newsome. A waste dumpster will be located at Greenwood and Delaware along with free disposal of tires (no rims) and electronics. Items NOT accepted: yard waste, liquids, tree trunks, concrete, brick, stone, rocks, hazardous waste, flammable materials, car parts, paint, stain, lacquers, and railroad ties.
