It was a successful budgeting season at Waukegan City Hall as we did not increase property taxes, we paid down debt, and the City is on its way toward an anticipated credit upgrade. I want to extend my gratitude to our hard-working City employees who worked tirelessly to ensure that Waukegan taxpayers get the most out of their City government.

Equally exciting is the fact that summer is just around the corner. The boats are back in the harbor, the beach is open, we had our Memorial Day festivities, and we all can look forward to a full set of summer activities here in our community. I encourage you to read through this email and plan your summer fun in Waukegan!

Lastly, please slow down while driving, and mind the speed limits throughout the City. Slowing down saves lives, especially at this time of year when we have so many more young people enjoying the outdoors.

Lead Line Service Replacement

The City of Waukegan is developing an inventory of water service pipe materials. We have developed a survey for you to take that will help the City determine the material of the service pipe that brings water to your home. We urge you to submit photos of your pipe through the survey to help develop this inventory. June in Waukegan is highlighted by some of our community's favorite activities. We encourage you to come out and support the unique destinations, attractions and the amazing people that make them possible.

FREE Yoga in the Stiner Pavilion at the Waukegan Municipal Beach returns by popular demand on Saturday mornings at 8am thanks to an on-going collaboration with the City of Waukegan and the Waukegan Park District. Don't miss the final weekend of the on-stage production of "The Creators" LIVE at Stage 115 that is brought to you by Three Brothers Theatre. The Genesee Theatre's calendar includes a return of their film series that includes "The Birdcage" on June 6 and the "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar" on June 13. The Waukegan Harbor will host a Famer's Market kicking off on Wednesdays starting on June 7 through September 27. The Waukegan Symphony Orchestra presents "American Stories" on June 10. Comedian Jim Breuer closes out the season the Genesee Theatre's shows LIVE on-stage on June 15. The Waukegan Friends proudly present the PrideDrive and Celebration in Downtown on June 17 and "Cirque du Sogei" rounds out the night for a special LIVE performance at Three Brothers Theatre. the Waukegan Band Foundation and the City of Waukegan present the FREE Summer Concert Series of the Waukegan Band starting on June 20 in the Stiner Pavilion at the Waukegan Municipal Beach. Celebrate Juneteenth with the Museum of the African American and the Juneteenth Journey on June 17 and the Juneteenth Youth Celebration on June 19. And, mark your calendar for some of July's signature activites, including; the Waukegan Park District's American Independence Parade on July 2, Waukegan's 4th of July Fireworks on July 4 and Scoop Waukegan on July 7-8.
