From the Desk of
Mayor Ann B. Taylor
It is nearly the middle of May, and before we know it, schools will be out, and we’ll be heading into summer. In the meantime, as we have more children outside in our neighborhoods, I’m asking all our residents to please slow down in residential areas to help keep our youngest citizens safe. Going the speed limit or below will protect children at play, which is a neighborly way to show respect toward the community.
One of the city’s greatest assets is opening up soon, Waukegan Municipal Beach. Our beach is a destination not just for Waukeganites but for people who live in Lake County and beyond. The beach opens on May 22nd, and the beach season ends one week after Labor Day, September 11th. I hope to see you at the lakefront swimming, soaking in some sun, and participating in all the activities. More information can be found here.
The Kohl Children’s Museum Pop-Up is back in Waukegan through June. The Museum’s presence in Waukegan is to ensure that every child has access to a high-quality children’s museum experience. The Museum brought exhibits and its education team directly to Waukegan. So please stop by with your children or grandchildren. More information can be found here.
Lastly, I know it’s hard to believe, but we are already getting ready for Waukegan Scoop 2023, which is scheduled for July 7th and 8th. Stay tuned for more information about this year’s events!
