Waukegan Mayor Ann B. Taylor

From the Desk of
Mayor Ann B Taylor

November is such a special month. It is a time to be thankful and reflective, to be with family, and to appreciate everyone and everything that has helped you through the year. As we near the end of 2022, I find myself looking forward to all the winter holiday season holds.

This Friday, November 11th, Waukegan holds its annual Veterans Day parade to salute the brave, selfless men and women who have served our country past and present. I thank every Waukeganite who has worn the uniform in peacetime or wartime. You can find additional information about the parade and a drive benefiting veterans below.

I wish all Waukeganites a safe, healthy, and joyous Thanksgiving. These past few years have certainly been challenging, so everyone deserves to sit around the table with loved ones and enjoy a hearty meal and kinship.

Lastly, I want to highlight a few major winter holiday events happening in early December before the next E-News will arrive. The Kris Kringle Market, Winter Wonder Walk, and Tree Lighting are all scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd. Come ring in the season with holiday cheer at these wonderful winter events!

Thank you, and have a fantastic November!

COOL Ministries Veterans Outreach Drop Box

COOL's Veterans Outreach

Every year the City hosts a COOL Food Pantry Veterans Assistance and Outreach Drop Box to collect items off the eligible veterans' needs list. This year the most requested items are bar soap, shampoo, and toilet paper, but other basic products we sometimes take for granted are welcome.  The box will be in City Hall's lobby until the end of November.  COOL Food Pantry Veterans Outreach

Waukegan leaf collection guidelines and estimated dates

2022 Waukegan Leaf Collection

The City-wide leaf collection is underway and with good success.  Leaves for disposal must be raked onto the parkway in front of your home for pick up.  Do not rake leaves into the street as they may clog storm drains.  Waste Management will not collect leaves around parked cars.  Questions? Call 847-623-3870.  Waste Management
