The City of Waukegan, in coordination with federal, state and county officials, has been closely monitoring the developing situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and making plans to maintain City Services while being mindful of the health and wellbeing of our residents, visitors and staff. During this time, Police, Fire, Water Service, Public Works, and City Administrative and Legislative Departments will be staffed and operational.
The following preventative measures will be implemented:
City Council and Committee Meeting Monday, March 16th
The only Committee Meeting scheduled for Monday, March 16th is Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and it will take place at 5pm. All non-essential and previously scheduled committee meetings have been cancelled.
City Council meeting will take place at 5:10pm with elected officials and necessary department heads. Based on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Illinois Governor’s recommendation, public participants and Audience Time with be restricted. Twenty members of the public will be allowed into Council Chambers.
Operational Changes
As of Monday, March 16th, City Hall will be operating with a reduced employee team. Building rental inspections are hereby postponed.
While City Hall will remain open, many of the in-person interactions at City Hall can be facilitated online. The City encourages everyone to utilize the tools and resources for self-service payment. The following is a breakdown by department of online resource and bill payment.
Water Accounts
Water accounts may be accessed through mobile, online and interactive voice response services. Through these channels, customers may make payments and check balances. Pay by phone at 844-611-4015. Pay online at www.waukeganil.gov, then select “Pay” from the top right options on the page. Customers may also enrolled for E-Bill at https://waukegan.docugateway.com/app/guest/.
