Dear Community Partners, 

The City of Waukegan hereby announces the anticipated availability of funds under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) for the upcoming program year (PY2024) and strategic planning period (2020-2024).  

Anticipated funding will be made available through three different types of grant applications as detailed below. Applications for annual PY2024 grant funding awards will be made available on our website the same day as the corresponding workshop and are due on December 11, 2023. The following PY2024 workshops will be held on October 13, 2023, as indicated below. Attendance is mandatory for Waukegan applicants. 


Human Services PY2024 Grant Workshop

Available CDBG funding that invests in community services and programs that promote and enhance a targeted population’s quality of life such as the elderly, persons with disabilities, persons with HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, persons with alcohol/drug dependency, persons with mental health needs, and persons with other special needs.

Public Infrastructure & Facilities PY2024 Grant Workshop

Available CDBG funding used to improve the City’s public facilities and infrastructure through rehabilitation, reconstruction, and new construction as well as to improve public areas to be readily accessible and usable by persons with disabilities.

Economic Development PY2024 Grant Workshop

Available CDBG funding that plans and promotes the development, redevelopment, and revitalization by investing in economic growth initiatives to develop and promote small commercial business. All while supporting and promoting job creation, retention, and employment training programs.
