Smoke Detector Program

Purpose

The Waukegan Fire Department has initiated an aggressive Smoke Alarm Program with the aid of a Federal Grant.

Illinois State Law requires that all residences in the state have working smoke alarms on all living/occupied levels of the home.

The Fire Department will provide, free of charge, one Smoke Alarm in a owner occupied single and / or two family dwelling.

Requirements

Participation requirements are as follows:

  • Reside in Waukegan, Illinois
  • Allow the Fire Department to install the smoke alarm
  • Currently not have a smoke alarm
